Ja, das ist ein jahrelanges Manko, dass man zur Einbindung von dem
System unbekannten HD-Controllern Disketten verwenden muss, was bei
jedem modernen Chipset mit Software-RAID schon der Fall ist. Während
der Basisinstallation ist ja keine alternative Zugriffsmöglichkeit
vorhanden per shell o.ä. D.h. entweder die Installationsquelle vorher
mit Treibern erweitern oder Floppylaufwerk am Floppycontroller
anschließen (ob ein USB-FDD geht, habe ich noch nicht probiert).

Sofern der (W)LAN-Chip bekannt ist, ohne externen Datenträger geht es
dann u.U. auch nicht, was aber bei den drahtgebundenen Versionen eher
selten der Fall ist. Bei der XP-Installation kommt die
Netzwerkeinbindung eh relativ spät (imho viel zu spät) und öfters
fährt das System erst mal ohne NIC hoch.
